Seasonal Change

This series explores my backyard focused on seasons and the Virginia state tree, dogwood.  Photographs will be on display at Les Yeux Du Monde Gallery in Charlottesville, VA for the month of March 2010.

Two years after college I began creating in-camera double exposures.  I search for natural and man-made elements to blend textures and shapes creating a completely new image.

Waking up in Maho Bay

Spending a week in Maho Bay on  St. John's island with no TV, no news, not even music was a delight.    On the last day I overhead a conversation from a nearby tent cottage, "I guess we'll hike there, snorkel, hike back, take a shower and go into town for shopping and dinner."  What a day; mind you the showers were cold.

Glass Walls of Des Moines Iowa

I spent a few days one winter in Des Moines Iowa on a photo shoot. It was bitter cold in the month of January, reaching -22 degree temperatures I spent little time outside.  For exercise I walked the 3 mile long skywalk throughout the downtown.  One story above ground level never leaving the climate controlled walkways I could reach the necessities of life.  As I walked I observed the big glass windows   and architecture of the city.  Protected from the outside extremities the city and views are still enjoyed.

Let There be Light

Last year John and I created Floating Lanterns for the Let There be Light exhibit at PVCC.  Although the process of collaborating ideas and creating the final product was challenging we were happy at the end.  This year we struggle once again.
To collaborate you must give up the sense of oneself and listen to each other's idea with an open mind.  You have to be supportive not competitive.  You have to be willing to try a new idea and maybe fail.
Maybe today we will succeed.

A few family photo sessions

Tis' the season for family portraits in Charlottesville, Virginia. Think of a photography session with me as an hour of fun that will last forever. As a final product the client has the choice of an online gallery or CD. It's not too late for your 2009 session.

Train Ride to Staunton

VIRGINIA, 2:44:54PM, SUMMER 2009

I road the Cardinal train today with my niece, nephew and sister-in-law to Staunton. My objective was to record train sounds, interview the kids during their first train trip and take a few pictures. Above is my favorite picture of the day. The image has sentimental value, the motorcycle is parked in front of shop where I got my first tattoo, a falling star.

We sat in the lounge car for this short trip.

Local Food Feature in Virginia Living Magazine

Yummy local food & wine featured in the July/Aug issue of Virginia Living Magazine. Gryffon's Aerie, A Pimento Catering, King Family Vineyards all contributed to a wonderful 10-mile meal in Crozet on the Mount Air Farm located off route 810. The evening dinner and story of Ramona and Collin Huff is brought to life with words by Christina Ball and photography by Stacey Evans (me). On newstands now!
