Photo 11 @ Artisphere

Three of my photographs are included in Photo 2011 Annual Juried Mid-Atlantic Photo Exhibition at Artisphere in Arlington, VA. The show is on display until Sept. 10.

 My work was mentioned in a review of the show by Mark Jenkins of the Washington Post.

The juror, Amanda Maddox, is the former Associate Curator of Photography and Media Arts at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

Tracking People closes February 2, 2011

Tracking People, part of my TRAINSCAPES project, is on display until February 2, 2011 at the Dickinson Building on the grounds of Piedmont Virginia Community College.

I brought my parents just before the doors closed for the holidays.  The galleries are open again, Dickinson is the last building on College Drive.

Train Ride to Staunton

VIRGINIA, 2:44:54PM, SUMMER 2009

I road the Cardinal train today with my niece, nephew and sister-in-law to Staunton. My objective was to record train sounds, interview the kids during their first train trip and take a few pictures. Above is my favorite picture of the day. The image has sentimental value, the motorcycle is parked in front of shop where I got my first tattoo, a falling star.

We sat in the lounge car for this short trip.

Back on Track

Here are a few rough shots and rough facts from the Crescent Train Route from Charlottesville to DC.

What a difference a day makes! The Crescent Train leaves Charlottesville at about 7:20am for NYC. This has been my main route over the last few years, along with the Palmetto to Charleston, SC. The Crescent Train travels everyday with endpoints at New Orleans and New York City. It travels through more states than any other Amtrak train. I was a little shocked by this fact but the Empire Builder travels west which is home to larger states.

These three images will be on display at in the PVCC Faculty Show Jan 30- Mar 14. They are the first to be printed and framed from my recent body of work combining my fascination of abandon structures, motion, time, and connective systems.

American Diptych

The diptychs juxtapose the American landscapes. The images capture a feeling of passage while fixing a moment in time. They deliver a sense of mystery to a bleak direction of our society.

Little Gallery 0808

I created a little foamcore gallery this week. I was feeling a big creative block in the editing and printing process of my work. The little gallery is a fun space to explore the images. If they make it in the little gallery they become a big print. These images are from the Empire Builder Route.
