the Montage Years. 2003-2006

Montage Period lasted from 2003-2006. It was a time of reflection about what was going on around and inside me. I was unsure if I should move to a large city or stay in the rural landscape I know. The rural landscape was being developed quickly. Life was speeding up and I was trying to slow it down while I created montages. I was also teaching photoshop at the time so the computer was a large part of my work.

the Montage Beginning. 2000

Working with a film scanner and photoshop I combined multiple images in one frame. The process is similar to double exposures and darkroom montages but the computer offered more advanced blending techniques.

the Digital Camera beginning. 2001

I began photographing from car windows when I bought my first digital camera in 2001. My 2.1 megapixel Olympus offered slow shutter speeds up to 16 seconds. Until this time I used only manual SLR cameras with a bulb setting requiring me to count exposure times. The programed exposure times along with the ability to view the results instantly sparked a pursuit of photographing in low light with slow shutters while in motion.
